Mikhail Kornienko was born on April 15 in the city of Syzran, Samara region. From a year he worked in the Moscow police. In the early March of the year, the astronaut began the passage of complex training as a sideman of the main crew of the ship, along with the ship commander Gennady Padalka and the sorcerer Scott Kelly.

Later, exam training was held at the Russian ISS segment. During the flight, he made one exit to the outer space lasting 5 hours 34 minutes. The total duration of two space flights was 10 hours 00 minutes. The time spent in open space is 12 hours 16 minutes. In early March, he took part in the first and second stage of the Constellation experiment, which was carried out to study the capabilities of a person during flights in long space and work on the surface of Mars and the Moon.

Mikhail Kornienko on December 1, of his own free will, transferred from the post of instructor-cosmonaut-tester of the first class to the post of leading specialist of the cosmonauts of the Cosmonauts training center named after Yuri Gagarin.
