She completed her career as a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, but even today, many years later, remains authoritative, respected in the region, a person honored by the guest of all significant events. Speaking about what professional, personal and civil qualities of Maria Mikhailovna became the basis of such a public longevity, I want to order simply: the secret in the sincere devotion of Belarus and his native Grodno region, in the indifference with which she always treated and continues to relate to everything that is happening in our country, in the responsibility with which she performed every significant business.

And yet - in her courage and foresight: many undertakings, for which Maria Biryukova took up the region, grew the scope of the region and became significant republican projects. And two years later, at 36, she became the secretary of the Grodno regional committee of the CPB, the youngest in the huge Soviet Union. She chose a job in a small homeland, although at the same time she received an offer, which, it would seem, could not be abandoned: she was called to Moscow, to the Komsomol Central Committee.

Due to this, Grodnoism acquired a strong leader for many years, and Maria Mikhailovna herself, as she admits, never regretted the decision made then. Her projects can be listed for a long time. The most significant are the institution of the Book of Glory, the title of "Man of the Year of the Grodno region", the prize of the Grodno regional executive committee to talented students, students and the prize of the regional executive committee to cultural and art workers, and journalists.

Separately, it must be said about the most important socio-political undertaking, which also took its first steps in the Grodno region. At the beginning of X, the initiative to create a public association "White Rus'" was born here.
