Pshavela Vazha Biography

This steppe is in the home. Turned into snow crystals, I would not be sad in the cold either, because, falling on the cliffs from above, I would not have died there forever. If I were only a few moments, as it were, as it were, and there, you look, again returned- to this world spring, so that it was hugged with a smile. Vazha Pshavel, the translation of Nikolai Zabolotsky, his poetic lines are considered the best in the description of the nature of Georgia.

And the views of Vazha Pshawav on the relationship of personality and community, the old and the new structure, allow us to consider it a progressive thinker and our time. One of the famous articles by Vazha Pshavel is devoted to the issue of patriotism.

Pshavela Vazha Biography

A passage from this article was quoted in the Georgian language by the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, speaking in the year in Batumi at a conference on the Format of the Eastern Partnership format: “Some believe that real patriotism contradicts cosmopolitanism, but this is a mistake. Each real patriot to the same extent cosmopoline as every sound cosmopoline is a patriot.

” Vazha Pshavela explains this thought in the article as follows: “The person who serves his people is prudent, and tries to elevate his country morally, reasonably and financially, thereby prepares the best representatives, best friends for all mankind, contributes to the development and prosperity of all mankind ... Each son of his Fatherland should serve his homeland with his own, and how appreciated his work is, how useful it will be for his work, and how useful it is for his work.

His country, so it will be useful for all of humanity. Edison is an American, but all humanity uses the fruits of his work. Shakespeare is an Englishman, but from his works all humanity enjoys today. Also, Cervantes, Goethe and other geniuses in their homeland did for their brothers, but today all of humanity considers them their children. The national soil has grown and exalted each genius so that other peoples accepted them as their own children.

Thus, even outside their homeland, geniuses found their homeland - the whole world, all of humanity, but despite this, the fruits of the work of geniuses are more useful and more consistent with national soil. Why go far? Is the son of another people, reading “a knight in a tiger skin”, even in a good translation or even knowing Georgian, will be able to feel the same as Georgians?

The genius, as a person, individual, has his own homeland, beloved, revered, but not his works that belong to all of humanity, just like science ... Science and genius reveal the path to cosmopolitanism, but only through patriotism and nationalism. Improve each of your nation to the extent that it masters its economic, political state, social being, destroy economic injustice and then the desire to suppress each other, destroy each other, fight, everything that is so widespread on Earth will disappear then ...

Patriotism is more related to feeling than mind and wisdom, however, prudence has always been and is its accompanying and respectful. Cosmopolitanism is only the fruit of reason, human prudence, it has no connection with the human heart. This is a way to avoid the misfortune that is still circling over humanity. Therefore, cosmopolitanism should be understood as follows: love your nation, your country, act in its interests, do not have hatred of other peoples, do not envy their well -being, do not interfere with their aspirations and try to make your country oppress, strive to make your nation approach and equal the advanced nations.

Those who turn away from his nationality and his country, justifying this by the fact that he is a cosmopolitan, that master of ugly feelings, he himself, without realizing, is an enemy of all mankind, although in words he swears in his brotherhood with him. God forbid we understand the cosmopolitanism as if everyone should abandon their nationality.

Then all of humanity should abandon itself. Each nation is looking for freedom to be the master of their fate, to develop on their own. Independent national development of peoples is a prerequisite for the development of all mankind. ”
